Position Summary
New Frontier Technologies (NFT) has a current opening for a full-time Automation and Controls Specialist – Motion. We are looking for individuals experienced in programming applications that require multi-axis motion control. This position works with industrial PCs, PLCs, servo controllers, drives, motors and sensors in an Industrial Automation environment. Machines and applications may involve robotics and/or machine vision. The person accepting this full-time position will be resourceful, independent, goal-driven, and most importantly, a team player.
Primary Responsibilities
- Programming, testing, and commissioning of industrial applications involving multi-axis control.
- Apply machine safety programming and design concepts to new and legacy control systems.
- Work with electrical and mechanical engineers and technicians to assemble and test automation systems.
- Develop end-user documentation in support of the design, test, and operation of automation systems.
Qualifications
- Requires a B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related discipline or equivalent
- 3-5 years of relevant industry experience
- Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics
- Strong working knowledge of automation systems, robotics, and/or motion control systems
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing
- Experience with Rockwell PLCs, servos, and VFDs a plus
- Working knowledge of PackML a plus
- Ability and willingness to travel (up to 25%)
